How to Use Chrome to View and Manage FIDO/Passkey Credentials with Thetis Key

1. Connect Thetis Key to Your Device

  • Insert your Thetis security key into a USB port, or connect via NFC if supported.

2. Access Passkey/FIDO Credential Management in Chrome

  • Open Chrome and go to Settings by clicking on the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
  • Navigate to Autofill > Passwords, and scroll to find the Passkeys section (naming may vary slightly depending on your Chrome version).

3. Configure Settings Based on Platform:

  • On macOS: Chrome’s FIDO/Passkey management works directly without any additional configuration. You can view, manage, or delete passkey credentials as needed.

  • On Windows:

    • By default, Chrome uses the native Windows FIDO management interface. To manage credentials directly through Chrome, disable native FIDO support with these steps:
      1. Type chrome://flags in the Chrome address bar and press Enter.
      2. Search for Use Windows OS FIDO2 security key API for WebAuthN in the flags page.
      3. Set this option to Disabled.
      4. Click Relaunch to restart Chrome and apply the change.
    • Recommended: For a more robust management experience, we recommend using the Thetis Key Management Tool on Windows. This tool provides full control over FIDO2 credential management, allowing you to view, edit, and delete FIDO credentials directly on the Thetis Key.

4. View and Manage Thetis Key Credentials in Chrome

  • Once in the Passkeys section, you can view the list of credentials linked to your Thetis Key and other accounts.
  • Select an entry to see details about the passkey and click Remove or Delete to delete a credential from your Thetis Key. Editing options may be limited, so you can re-register credentials on the desired website if updates are needed.

Additional Notes:

  • Re-register Passkeys: If you need an updated passkey, go to the website where it’s registered and set it up again using the Thetis Key.
  • Fingerprint Functionality: If your Thetis Key supports fingerprint authentication, use specific software tools from Thetis (currently only available for Windows) to manage fingerprint recordings.

This guide should help you set up FIDO/Passkey credential management with your Thetis Key smoothly across both Windows and macOS platforms. Let me know if you have further questions!
