GUIDE: USE THETIS KEY WITH PASSWORD MANAGER (Bitwarden Premium Illustration)
Improve Password Manager Security with Thetis FIDO2 Keys
A password manager securely stores and manages your passwords, allowing you to generate and retrieve complex passwords for various online accounts. However, relying on a master password still poses a risk. If your master password is compromised, all your stored accounts could be at risk.
With the Thetis FIDO2 Security Key, you can enhance the protection of your password manager through FIDO2 and U2F protocols. This guide shows you how to integrate Thetis FIDO2 Security Key with Bitwarden Premium, but the steps are similar for other password managers like 1Password and LastPass.
Step 1: Log In to Your Bitwarden Premium Account
First, open Chrome and visit the Bitwarden login page: vault.bitwarden.com. Enter your credentials to log in. Ensure you are subscribed to the Premium Plan, as security key integration is a premium feature.
Step 2: Access Security Settings
Once logged in, navigate to Settings and select Security from the side menu to manage your account's security settings.
Step 3: Enable Two-Factor Authentication
In the Two-step Login section, click Manage next to the 'Security Key' option to add your Thetis FIDO2 Key.
Step 4: Register Your Thetis FIDO2 Key
Insert your Thetis FIDO2 Key into your computer’s USB port and follow the on-screen instructions to register it as your two-factor authentication method.
Step 5: Test Your Key
Log out of Bitwarden and then log back in to confirm that your Thetis FIDO2 Key is required for access. This ensures that the setup is working properly.
Optional: Enable Passkey for Easier Access
For a more seamless login experience, consider enabling the Passkey feature. This feature allows you to log in without using a password, relying instead on your Thetis FIDO2 Key for authentication. The Passkey option can be found in the Two-step Login section.
