Step-by-Step Guide

This guide demonstrates how to use your Thetis FIDO2 Passkey Security Key for two-factor authentication (2FA). While Facebook is used as an example, these instructions apply to any platform supporting FIDO2 keys.

Important Reminder: It is critical that you remember the 6-digit PIN you set during the setup process. This PIN will be required for every future authentication with your Thetis FIDO2 Key. Additionally, we strongly recommend completing the initial setup on a PC or Mac using a supported browser for the smoothest experience.

Step 1: Check Your Setup

  1. Verify Initial Configuration: Ensure your Thetis FIDO2 Key is set up correctly with the Thetis Manager software. If you haven’t set it up yet, download the software from the Thetis Download Center and follow the instructions.
  2. Device and Browser Compatibility:
    - Windows 10 or later, supported browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox.
    - macOS 10.14 Mojave or later, supported browsers: Safari, Chrome, Edge, Firefox.
    - iOS 13.3 or later: Safari.
    - Android 7.0 Nougat or later: Chrome.
    Recommendation: Perform the initial setup on a PC or Mac using a supported browser.

Step 2: Access Facebook Account Security

  1. Open Your Browser: Launch a supported browser on your device.
  2. Visit Password & Security: Go to the Facebook Password & Security Section and log in.

Step 3: Set Up Your Thetis Key as FIDO 2FA

  1. Navigate to the 2FA Section: Click on the "Two-factor Authentication" section in the security settings and choose your account.
  2. Choose Security Key: Select "Security key" as your preferred authentication method.

  1. Insert Thetis Security Key: Insert the Thetis Key into your computer’s USB port and register it.
  2. Authenticate: Enter your previously set PIN on the Thetis FIDO2 Key when prompted. If you haven’t set a PIN, you will be asked to create one. Your PIN must be at least 6 characters long, and you must remember it, as it will be required for all future authentications.

  1. Confirmation: A confirmation message will indicate that your 2FA setup is complete.

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Key Not Recognized: Ensure the key is fully inserted. Try a different port or restart your device if needed.
  • If Setup Fails: Verify compatibility requirements and confirm your Thetis Key is configured correctly with the Thetis Manager software.
