This guide explains how to register and use your Thetis Security Key via NFC on mobile devices (iOS and Android) through the Gmail App.
Gmail is used as the example — other FIDO2-compatible services follow a similar process.
🔑 Key Notes Before You Begin

NFC login is not supported on Windows or Mac

The Thetis Key must be unfolded to a 90° angle before tapping

Thetis Key uses passive NFC, meaning it draws power from your phone — hold the key steady for a few seconds to ensure detection

iPhone: NFC reader is near the top-back (next to the camera)

Android: NFC reader is typically at the center-back of the phone
✅ Step-by-Step: Register Thetis Security Key via Gmail App
1. Log Into Your Gmail Account

Open the Gmail App on your iPhone or Android

Sign in using your existing Google credentials (email + password)
2. Navigate to Google Security Settings

Tap "三“ icon to open menu, find Settings -> Your Account -> Security

on the pop-up page find Privacy & Security -> Hardware Security Key
⚠️ Note:
Google may regularly update menu names and options. In some cases:

Try look for an option to add a “Security Key” or specifically “Hardware Security Key”
3. Start Security Key Registration

Tap Add Security Key

Choose Use Security Key (NFC) when prompted

The phone will prepare to detect the key via NFC
4. Tap the Thetis Key

Unfold the Thetis Key to 90°

Tap it against the NFC area of your phone:

iPhone: top-back

Android: center-back

Hold in place for 3–7 seconds until detected
5. Set or Confirm PIN

If this is the first time using the key, you will be prompted to set a PIN

Follow on-screen instructions to complete registration
6. You're Done!

The Thetis Key is now registered to your Google Account

You can use it to log in to Gmail, Drive, YouTube, and other Google services across supported devices
🛠️ Troubleshooting Tips

Make sure NFC is enabled (Android: Settings > Connected Devices > NFC)

Remove bulky phone cases or magnetic covers

Slightly reposition the key and hold longer if not detected
