Prerequisites

Before setting up your Thetis FIDO2 Key for TOTP on mobile devices, ensure the following:

Step-by-Step Guide for Mobile Devices

Step 1: Install and Open Thetis Mobile App

Download and install Thetis mobile app from your device's app store. Open the app once installed. On the initial screen, tap the "+" button to add a new OTP entry.

Step 2: Scan QR Code

To set up OTP using a QR code:

  • Tap on "Scan QR Code" button on the initial screen.
  • Point your device's camera at the QR code provided by the service you are setting up (e.g., Google Authenticator).
  • The app will automatically capture and fill in the necessary information.

Or Step 2: Manual Entry

To manually enter OTP details:

  • Tap on "Manual Entry" button on the initial screen.
  • Fill in the following details:
    • Issuer: Enter the name of the service (e.g., Google).
    • Account Name: Enter your account name or email address.
    • Secret Key: Enter the secret key provided by the service.
    • Require Touch: Enable this option for additional security (optional).
    • Type: Ensure ‘TOTP’ (Time-based One-Time Password) is selected.
  • After entering the details, tap "Add Account" to save the settings.

Step 3: Connect Your Security Key

After entering the necessary information, connect your Thetis FIDO2 Key to your mobile device:

  • Using NFC: Tap your security key against the NFC area of your mobile device. Note that the NFC sensor location may vary by device. Once in the correct position, your phone should vibrate or emit a sound to indicate successful connection.
  • Using USB-C: Insert your security key into the USB-C port of your mobile device. The app will recognize the key and complete the setup.

Step 4: Verify TOTP Entry

After connecting your security key via NFC or USB-C, reopen the Thetis mobile app to view the TOTP entry you configured.

  • Secure Storage of Secret Keys: Ensure that your secret keys are securely stored and only shared with trusted services.
  • Time Synchronization: Make sure your device’s time settings are accurate to avoid any TOTP verification issues.
